Tools:
- HB pencil
- Ruler
- Sakura electrical eraser to quickly remove guidelines
- Prismacolor kneaded eraser

How to Draw a Female Face up Stride 1: Face Shape
Draw a circle and brand a small horizontal line at the bottom for the chin. It's position should be roughly half of the circumvolve'due south bore vertically. This matters because the circle was fatigued freehandedly, and so the horizontal diameter could exist unlike.
Females tend to have shorter chins than their male counterparts, so a long chin can brandish a more masculine wait.
When you're done, draw the jawline to connect the circle to the mentum. Females have all sorts of face shapes, just for this example I'thou going to stick with a smooth, tapered jawline that's less angular.
Finally, use a ruler to depict a faint line down the center of the face vertically.
Step 2: Draw Confront Guidelines
Measure the length of the face and draw a ruler to the side of your cartoon using a straight edge. Then divide it into viii equal spaces length-wise.
Label each of the ticks like the image on the left and once you're washed, use a ruler to advisedly draw faint lines on the face through the ticks labelled: CENTER LINE, ii, 3, A and C.
If you've gone through this tutorial a few times already and desire to try it without the ruler, draw your lines in this guild: Heart LINE, 2, three , B, A, C, essentially breaking sections of your cartoon in half over and over again.

Step 3: Depict the Optics
On the CENTER LINE, describe 4 ticks that separate the face into five equal spaces horizontally. If you lot're like me and you drew a very narrow cheek/jaw line, y'all'll want to take the total diameter of the circle into business relationship (The two dotted lines mark the full diameter of the head).
When yous draw the eyes, proceed in mind that females generally take wider, more open eyes than males. If yous desire to acquire how to draw realistic center shapes and how to size your irises properly, visit this tutorial.

Step 4: Nose
To depict the olfactory organ, extend the ii lines at the inner corner of each eye all the way to Line 3. This will serve as a guideline for the nose's width.
If you lot've already read my tutorial on cartoon noses, place your circle above Line 2. I'm going to go with a short, narrow nose with a narrow span.
Step v: Eyebrows
The moving-picture show on the left shows the pinnacle of the forehead bone. I added this and so you can see how the eyebrows are positioned naturally in regards to the bone construction.
In the prototype on the correct, yous can see that the eyebrows are drawn below Line C. For a surprised expression, the eyebrows volition be pulled up closer to Line C.

Pace 6: Lips
From the center of each iris, depict a vertical line all the way downwards to Line iii. This will give u.s. a boundary for the rima oris.
If you've already practiced my tutorial on cartoon lips, identify your triangle nether the nose. The base of the triangle should exist drawn within the square. The height of the triangle should extend to wherever the bottom of the nose is.
After y'all've drawn the lips, you might feel the need to lengthen or shorten the chin so it's more proportional to the rest of the face. This is completely normal. Happens to me all the time. That's why it's important to depict using faint lines and then you can hands set up things.
Pace 7: Ears
The Eye LINE and Line 2 are general boundaries for the ears. You can learn how to draw realistic ears here.
Step eight: Hair
When drawing pilus on females, keep in mind that females generally accept narrower and shorter foreheads compared to males. I drew the hairline for my character well below Line A and drew more hair at the sides of the temple, making certain not to bring the pilus in too close to the eyebrow.
Remember to requite the hair some volume by leaving lots of space betwixt the head and the hair. For more detailed instructions on how to depict hair, visit this tutorial this tutorial.
I like to do a terminal check before I erase all my guidelines. Check to run across if the facial features need changing. Perhaps you lot'd like to alter the nose length or eye shape.
Once you're happy with your results, employ a difficult eraser to clean up all the lines. An electrical eraser works very well for this kind of work.
Later cleaning those lines, I like to use a kneaded eraser to dab away dark spots from where the lines intersected with my drawing.
